The Continental Cup in Bucharest (3-6th July) is the strongest competition at which our national team will participate this year. All six competing teams are up’n’comming and can hope for the best: Romania, Russia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia.
Our selection is in the group A together with Russia and Romania. On Thursday, 3rd of July, at 2:45pm CET Serbia takes on Russia, whilst the day after at 11:15am CET, we will encounter the host nation. Semi finals and 5th place play off are scheduled for Saturday, 5th of July, and the 3rd place play-off and the final for Sunday, 6th.
According to the national team captain, Vladimir Ninković, our team will this year count only on the players from the local clubs: “It should be mentioned that we will miss some great players like Ceprnich, Đorović, Ginnell, Ratnayake or Kelly, or the best young bowler Bogdan Dugić. However, according to this years propositions, each side will have to field at least 4 local players, which can be beneficial for us, taking into account that our team has always been based upon homegrown players.“
