On Saturday, 18th of November, at the sports’ hall of the “Olga Petrov’ elementary school in Padinska Skela, an indoor tournament was held for migrants from the Krnjaca Asylum Centre.

Three teams of young Afghans, Pakistanis and one Serb, Jovan Reb, participated – Prince VI, captained by Prince Liaqat; KKR, captained by Umaid; and Afghan Tigers, captained by Zia.

In the first match, KKR beat Prince VI by 13 runs, with Umaid scoring 27 runs. The same number of runs for Prince VI was scored by Zarshan, but his teammates did not follow IN his steps.  KKR were 44 all out; Prince VI 31 all out.

The Afghan Tigers started the second match furiously, with eventual man of the tournament, Adil, scoring a quick fire 32, including five sixes. The Tigers showed their impressive strength in the second innings, with KKR managing only five runs. Adil again contributed with one catch and two acrobatic run-outs. The Tigers were 45 all out; KKR 5 all out.

The Afghan Tigers secured gold by beating Prince VI. Adil again opened and scored 33, with solid support from Khalid Tarakhail (11). Again, Prince VI depended only on one player, and this time it was Shakur with a quickfire 34, until being removed by Adil.  Tigers were 57/3, versus Prince VI 50/4.

At the end, the Afghan Tigers took gold with two wins in two matches, KKR were second with one win and one defeat, whilst Prince VI lost both matches.

The tournament was organized within the Project “Cricket for Migrants”, supported by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations of the Republic of Serbia. SCF is also thankful to the Lord’s Taverners whose donation – bats, balls, wickets and shirts – was used at this event.
