This weekend, 3-4th of May, the first round of the Serbian Premier T20 League was supposed to take place. However, due to incessant rains only one match was finished, whilst one was abandoned after 5 overs, and one postponed.

New teams, Reservoir Dogs and Bodrog Deer, strengthened with several more experienced players played an interesting opening, and as it turned out, the only match of the weekend. The guests from Backi Monostor batted first and in spite of extremely bad weather conditions, managed to finish their innings with 95 runs for 8 wickets. It seemed as a good result, however due to an experienced Bangladeshi partnership between Apon (24) and Rifat Ul-Islam (30*), the Dogs reached the necessary score already in the 11th over.

Only five overs were played in the second match when a storm started and the excellent umpires Milijanovic and Dugic had to call it a day. The result at that moment was 47-3 for Reservoire Dogs.

Bodrog Deer 95-8 (D.Balog 18, Perumalsamy 18*; Didanović 2-17) – Reservoir Dogs 96-4 (Rifat Ul-Islam 30*, Apon 24 – Civric 2-30). Reservoir dogs won by 6 wickets with 9 overs remaining.

Reservoir Dogs 47-3 (5 overs) (Apon 19*, Kalhara 11*; P.Balog 2-10) – Match Abandoned.

The derby match between Centurion CC and the current champions Stari Grad CC scheduled for Sunday was postponed for 17th May.

Next weekend, Centurion CC travels to Backi Monostor for a double header with Bodrog Deer CC, whilst Stari Grad will play Reservoir Dogs.
